Our Mission

Cinderella’s Closet provides formal wear to girls who would otherwise be unable to attend their prom.

Our Story

Cinderella’s Closet was started by Erin Peterson in Kentucky back in 2006. It was created when Erin overheard a young girl explain she had found the "dress of her dreams" but could not afford to buy it. Erin intervened and asked if she could bless the young girl with the dress. As it turned out, the dress was just $29.99. The young girl who was in foster care, just couldn't believe a stranger could be so kind. Upon leaving, she said she felt just like Cinderella.

Erin was so moved by how impactful the seemingly small act was received. She then went home, prayed on it and Cinderella's Closet was born. Prom is such an enormous deal in a young person’s life and she wanted to support young ladies who may not have been able to afford that experience.

All these years later, there are now 17 Cinderella’s Closets in the US. Cinderella’s Closet OC is run by Erin Carlton and Tasha Gabal. After many years of traveling back to her home state of Kentucky, Erin decided it was time to bring CCOC to life in her new home state. Our goal at CCOC is to uplift, love, encourage and completely shower the young ladies of Orange County in the love of their community.

Who We Serve

Cinderella’s Closet supports any junior or senior girl that is referred by a counselor, social worker or community outreach coordinator.

How We Help

The average cost of prom these days is excruciatingly high, ranging anywhere from $200-$2000. At Cinderella’s Closet we remove the financial stress for our princesses by completely outfitting our girls from head to toe.

Erin and Tasha

Erin is passionate about 3 things, family, kids and helping! When she is not working on Cinderella’s Closet she is teaching children with special needs in her hometown of Laguna Beach.

Tasha is the brains behind the organization. She brings 20+years of leadership experience to CCOC. She is a phenomenal mom and partner. She is the gal that gets things done and reigns in Erin when she gets too far off track.

Together their mission is to cherish, love and surround the girls of Orange County in the love of their community.
